RCL and Simatech revive Straits-India-Pakistan service

Jun 25, 2010 Shipping

REGIONAL Container Lines and Simatech are starting a joint weekly service linking ports in Singapore and Malaysia to India and Pakistan.

The service, named RPI by RCL, will deploy the 1,850-TEU Thana Bhum and the 1,440-TEU Sima Sahba and 1,440-TEU Sima Saman.

The port rotation is Singapore, Port Kelang, Nhava Sheva, Karachi and back to Singapore.

A report by Alphaliner said both carriers used to provide such service before the economic crisis and subsequent downturn in container shipping: Simatech as part of its GIS service and RCL with its former RPI service.
