The shipbuilding and metal industries performed best in the first half of this year on the back of a rise in overseas orders and raw metal prices.
The Bank of Korea says shipyards saw their sales grow 28 percent while the figure for the primary metal industry grew nearly 24 percent in the six-month period.
Experts attribute the trend to record-breaking overseas orders received by domestic shipbuilders and soaring prices of non-ferrous metals such as zinc and copper.
