DUBAI-based shipping and logistics services provider GAC has been named Shipping Agent of the Year at the Supply Chain & Transport (SCAT) Awards 2010 for the second year running.
Organised by the ITP Publishing Group, the annual awards for the Middle East's transport and logistics industry has established itself as the benchmark for excellence within the industry. This year's awards featured 16 categories covering logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors.
In the Shipping Agent of The Year category, judges looked for nominees with proven track records of outstanding service and innovation, as well as delivering time and cost savings. The award was presented to Gobind Kukreja, general manager - Tanker Department of GAC Dubai and general manager of GAC Fujairah, on behalf of the company at a ceremony at Dubai's Grosvenor House.
"This is the second time that GAC has clinched the prestigious Shipping Agent of The Year title, having won the inaugural Award in 2007," says Dan Hjalmarsson, GAC's group vice president - Middle East. "Winning the accolade again, in what has been a particularly challenging year for many in the industry, speaks volumes about our consistent high service standards in the Middle East and internationally.
"Despite the tough economic climate, GAC continued to introduce innovative solutions to help customers save costs and time, and improve operational efficiency and security throughout 2009 with new offerings such as GAC Ship Lay-Up Solutions (GLUS) for flexible, global lay-up services and anti-piracy GAC Protective Solutions. GAC is committed to innovation and supporting our clients through difficult times. Recognition from the industry like the SCAT Awards motivates us to achieve even more."
