OOCL bolsters its KTX intra-Asia services

Jun 11, 2010 Shipping

HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is amending its intra-Asia KTX (Kanto/Kansai Taiwan South China Express) services that come in three weekly loops.

As a result the container shipping line will add more capacity on its Japan-South China-Thailand KTX-2 loop from 2,700 TEU to 4,500 TEU. It is also extending the Japan-South China KTX-3 loop to South East Asia, with new calls at Singapore, Port Kelang, Jakarta and (again) Singapore.

The extension also includes regional and feeder connections currently served with local loops, including the Indonesia Malaysia service (IMS) and OOCL's Jakarta feeders.

Furthermore, the extended KTX-3, will turn in four weeks instead of two, using four 2,700-TEU ships. The two additional ships, the OOCL Osaka and OOCL Sydney, are cascaded from the KTX-2.
