NYK supports victims of earthquake in Qinghai province

JAPAN's NYK Group has provided donations totalling JPY4.8 million (US$52,400) to the victims of the earthquake that occurred in China's Qinghai province on April 14 with donations, matched by the company, made through the Red Cross from executives and employees of the NYK Group in Japan and NYK overseas offices and branches in East Asia including China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

NYK Group collected donations from employees within the group immediately after the earthquake, receiving JPY565,882 from NYK executives and employees in Japan.

The company then added a matching gift to a donation that now totalled JPY1,131,764 for the Japanese Red Cross Society. Moreover, matching gifts were added to donations from overseas offices and branches in East Asia by each office or branch and subsequently sent to the Red Cross in each country. These donations by the NYK Group will be used for the Red Cross recovery activities.

In addition to the donations, the NYK Group is accepting requests for free transportation of aid, depending on the needs of those in the affected areas.
