SEOUL, April 17 Asia Pulse - Despite increasing inter-Korean cross-border tension, a North Korean-registered cargo ship carrying coal arrived in South Korea's port city of Ulsan on April 13.
The 2,496-ton freighter Changdok, carrying a 29-member crew, docked at the port around 10:20 a.m., according to maritime police. The ship carried 4,000 tons of coal, the first batch of 12,000 tons of which was to be delivered by April 25, the police said.
The North Korean ship's arrival came as tensions mounted after North Korea kicked South Korean officials out of a joint industrial complex at Kaesong on March 27. The next day, the North test-fired missiles and accused Seoul of breaching their de facto sea border.
Recently, the North also accused the South of planning a preemptive attack and banned Seoul officials from entering the communist state.
