APL revives peak season China-Korea to Oakland-LA loop

APL will revive its transpacific China-Korea to California loop on May 25, which will have slots taken by its New World Alliance partners Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL, reports Alphaliner.

The PS-5 will offer a weekly capacity of 5,200 TEU and will link Busan, Shanghai (Waigaoqiao and Yangshan), Los Angeles, Oakland, Yokohama and back to Busan with the ships APL Liberty, APL Korea, APL Thailand, APL China and APL Philippines.

Paris-based Alphaliner described the PS-5 as a peak season service started in the 2004 and re-activated in 2005, 2008 and 2009 with a varying rotations.

Last year's PS-5 called Kaohsiung, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Guangzhou-Nansha, Fuzhou, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland, Kaohsiung, said the report. CSCL/Evergreen slow down FE-USEC service.
