United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), based in Kuwait, has reinstated its second Europe-Far East service. The first arrival of the AEC-1 scheduled liner service at the Port of Hamburg took place on April 27, with the docking of the containership Abu Dhabi, which is 276.5 metres long and 32.2 metres wide. It has a carrying capacity of 3,802 TEUs with connections for 360 refrigerated containers (reefers). A total of 11 units ranging from 2,700 to 4,300-TEU in size are deployed in the AEC-1 service.
The journey from Hamburg to Port Klang takes 24 days, with only a single stop in the Red Sea. The return leg primarily caters to the demand for transport capacity from Asia to the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, and from there to northern Europe.
The full rotation for the AEC-1 is: Hamburg, Rotterdam, Port Said, Jeddah, Port Klang, Shanghai, Busan, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Port Klang, Khorfakkan, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Jubail, Khorfakkan, Jeddah, Port Said and returning via Antwerp to Hamburg.
UASC continues to operate its Far East-Europe direct service AEC-2 with its own fleet of 6,900-TEU vessels. Both their scheduled liner services are handled at the Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH). There are also a number of different slot charter agreements, including to the Indian Subcontinent.
UASC will be implementing the following peak season surcharge applicable to all westbound shipments from Asia to all Red Sea destinations.
The rates, effective from May 15, are: $ 200/20’, $ 400/40’ and $ 400/40’ HC, Exim News Service informs.
