Containerships is starting a new container service between Izmir, Alexandria, Mersin and Misurata. The vessel employed will also be able to accommodate break-bulk shipments and will start its first rotation from Mersin on May 10, 2010.
This new fortnight service will be used to link Mersin and Alexandria with Northern European as well as Baltic Sea ports. Transhipment will take place in Izmir and its schedule will be mirroring the one of the Europe / Med service in order to ensure fast transhipment.
Containerships will continue to operate weekly service between Istanbul and Izmir, and the Libyan ports of Benghazi, Misurata and Tripoli. Transhipment cargo to/from Northern Europe and the Baltic will continue to take place in Istanbul.
The introduction of this service is in line with Containerships strategy to increase its activities within the Mediterranean as well as expand the scope of connections for the benefit of its customers trading between Europe, Baltic and the Mediterranean.
