Maersk adds Lagos-Tin Can Island call to FEW1 service

May 6, 2010 Shipping

MAERSK Line, a member of the Danish group AP Moller-Maersk, has started offering a direct connection between the Far East and Tin Can Island at Lagos, Nigeria.

This comes as the carrier has dropped its weekly call to Apapa on its FEW1 service and replaced it with a direct call to Tin Can Island.

By changing the port rotation, Maersk Line now offers direct weekly departures from the Far East to Tin Can Island, while maintaining a weekly service to Apapa on the FEW2 service. Maersk Line has a berthing guarantee in Apapa on its FEW2 service and cargo discharged from this service enjoys a step-down guarantee, a statement from the carrier said.

The revised port rotation for the FEW1 service is: Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Nansha, Tanjung Pelepas, Lome, Cotonou (Benin) and Tin Can Island.
