HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Orient Overseas (International) Ltd (OOIL), has announced the upcoming launch of its Mobile Cargo Tracking system that will be available from February 1.
The solution offers customers the ability to search and track their cargo by booking number, bill of lading number, or container number.
The new Mobile Cargo Tracking service can be accessed by all major mobile systems and smart phones, including but not limited to: Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Symbian, iPhone and Android. Customers may also access the service directly from http://m.oocl.com/
"The solution is the latest feature of the online interactive My OOCL Centre platform, which was launched in March 2009, aimed at lowering business costs and saving time. OOCL will continue to upgrade and add new features to the platform throughout 2010," a company statement said.
"As an extra value-added service, OOCL customers can also benefit from an additional feature which displays their China 24 (CN24) customs status in the Cargo Tracking result. The China 24-hour Advance Manifest Regulation means that for cargo inbound into China, the carrier must first submit the manifest to customs."
OOCL's CN24 customs status notification allows its customers to perform their customs declaration as soon as they receive the "Accepted" status. This status will also be shown in the Cargo Tracking results, both on oocl.com and m.oocl.com.
