CKYH to cut capacity 10pc from west coast, 10pc on east coast

Nov 26, 2009 Shipping

MEMBERS of the CKYH Alliance, Cosco, "K" LINE, Yang Ming and Hanjin, have announced that from the end of November, they will cut shipping capacity 10 per cent to the US west coast and 20 per cent to the east coast.

"With even more rationalised and effective fleet operation, we believe we will be able to provide stable and satisfying service, especially under the current economic climate," said a statement from the consortium.

With the advent of the slack season, the member lines said they had decided to cut capacity to match demand and to counter rising fuel costs, the statement said.
