RCCL's passenger number up by 75%

Cruise shipping company RCCL increased the number of passengers on the Nordic market by 75% in the 2009 season. In Sweden, the passenger number increased by as much as 150%, Logistics Finland informs.

The significant growth is attributed to the launch of 32 short cruises from Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen. All of the cruises were fully booked.

However, RCCL's turnover on the Nordic market did not increase by more than 16% to NOK 550mn (EUR 67mn USD 99mn). Besides the fact that the number of short cruises increased, there was also price pressure, says Roar Meidal, MD of RCCL's Nordic operations.
