Drop in passenger carriage

Estonia's shipping company Tallink carried 555,512 passengers in September 2009, a drop by 1% from the same month in 2008. The volume of cargo carriage, meanwhile, dropped 15% y/y to 22,622 units, while the carriage of passenger cars was up 21% y/y to 69,545 in September 2009. In September, Tallink carried 259,291 passengers on Tallinn-Helsinki link (+8%); Tallinn-Stockholm 52,704 passengers (-2%); Finnish-Swedish route 193,861 (-14%); Latvian-Swedish route 43,014 (+20%), Finnish-German route 6,642 (-11%). Tallink is operating a fleet of 20 ships under the trademarks Tallink and Silja Line, Logistics Finland reported.
