THE world's containership fleet capacity is expected grow to 13.26 million TEU by the end of the year, a lower than expected rate of 7.3 per cent, reports the Paris-based AXS Alphaliner newsletter.
The forecast high has reduced from the 14.02 million TEU set in January, a far lower year-on-year rate than the French consultancy had expected. Its new forecast rate was the slowest this decade, resulting from fewer new ship deliveries together and all-time high ship recycling rates.
