HOAU Group, the wholly-owned subsidiary of TNT in China, has announced its domestic investment plan, Logistics Week reported, calling for the addition of 437 trucks and the recruitment of hundreds of staff to expand the domestic network.
HOAU chief executive Xu Shuibo explained that the opportunity for road delivery expansion has come as the downturn has induced many companies to give up air transport because of high cost.
Mr Xu said TNT is to broaden its network to cover even more cities in China. Headquarters also has approved HOAU of employing 800 to 1,000 staff in the coming three years, and sending some of its work force for training in Europe and Australia.
