MSC increases rates on Mexican Gulf to Caribbean ports

Sep 24, 2009 Shipping

GENEVA's Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced rate increases from October 19 on cargo from Mexican Gulf ports to Caribbean ports.

MSC will levy an increase of US$450 per TEU and $550 per FEU from Mexican Gulf Ports to Cartagena, Colombia and Caucedo, Dominican Republic. It will charge an increase of $1,050 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU on shipments from Mexico to Venezuela, reports Newark's Journal of Commerce.

The increases, said MSC, are necessary "to adapt to current market conditions in Venezuela and keep providing a service which meets the requirements of customers from Mexico to Venezuela".
