Evergreen to hike North America to Asia, Oz, Mideast rates

EVERGREEN Line has announced a rate restoration programme for the westbound trades from North America to Asia, Australia and the Middle East from October 1, followed by a general rate increase for shipments from North America to Europe via the US east coast, Gulf and Pacific coasts from October 15.

With effect from October 1, the bunker surcharge increase for containers originating at US west coast ports and in Vancouver will be US$105 per TEU, $132 per FEU, and $186 per FEU reefer.

Containers originating at US east coast ports will be subject to a bunker surcharge increase of $206 per TEU, $258 per FEU and $342 per FEU reefer, a company statement said.

Also effective October 1, for commodity waste paper shipments (on top the bunker surcharge increase) originating from Tacoma and Oakland, the increase will be $150 per FEU from Oakland and $200 per FEU from Tacoma.

In addition, from the beginning of next month, for shipments originating in Canada (on top the bunker surcharge increase) the increase will be: $160 per TEU, $200 per FEU, $500 per FEU reefer from Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg/IPI points, and $300 per FEU reefer from Vancouver.

From October 15, for all dry cargo (exempt cargo included) from Tacoma port and door move from WA, OR, ID, MT without rail involved the increase will be: $160 per TEU and $200 per FEU.

Also from October 15, there will be a general rate increase for shipments from North America to Europe that are moving from and via the US east coast, Gulf and Pacific coasts will be $150 per TEU, $250 per FEU, as well as FEU high-cube and $250 per FEU high-cube reefer, the carrier said.
