KOREA's Hanjin Shipping and Hyundai Merchant Marine have announced they will cooperate in the transpacific trade beginning in October.
The two will exchange vessel space with Hanjin taking slots on Hyundai's SZX (Suez Express service) and Hyundai taking them from Hanjin's AWN (All Water North Atlantic service).
With the slot exchange, Hanjin Shipping will be able to expand its presence in Singapore/Colombo - US east coast trade while Hyundai will be better able to exploit the Shanghai/Busan-US east coast trade.
Meanwhile, Hanjin Shipping is continuing to cooperate with domestic/overseas carriers to develop various routes in order to offer satisfying service to customers, said a company statement.
On the AWN (All Water North Atlantic) service, the port rotation will be Kaohsiung, Shenzhen (Yantian), Shanghai, Busan, Panama, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Panama and back to Kaohsiung, deploying eight 4,300-TEU ships.
On the SZX (Suez Express) service, the port rotation will be Singapore, Colombo, Suez, New York, Charleston, Savannah, Norfolk, Suez, Jebel Alia and back to Singapore, deploying eight 4,000 TEU ships.
