Reefer block train with fresh seafood leaves Vladivostok for Moscow

A REFRIGERATED block train loaded with fresh seafood has set off for Moscow from Vladivostok across the world's largest land mass after Cape Churkin fishing companies became the first shippers to use the first reefer block trains between the vastly distant points.

The service was developed by the Far Eastern Railway, Centre of Transport Service and Refservis, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, according to the Russian Transport Daily Report. The main advantage of the new service is said to be a shorter transit time, careful scheduling, guaranteed safety of cargo and "substantial cost reduction", said the report.
