Shenzhen volume falls 21.1pc to 9.6 million TEU in first 7 months

THE Port of Shenzhen posted a 21.1 per cent year-on-year decline in container throughput to 9.6 million TEU in first seven months, though that was 0.4 per cent more than first half throughput, reported Xinhua.

The port moved 104.6 million tonnes of cargo from January to July, a 16.2 per cent decrease, but narrowing 0.7 per cent over that in the first half.

During the same period, cargo volume from all transport in Shenzhen grew 9.1 per cent to 116.7 million tonnes and cargo turnover volume increased 0.5 per cent to 59.2 billion tonnes per kilometre. Passenger volume fell 6.1 per cent to 824.9 million.

Airports in Shenzhen registered a 10.1 decline in mail cargo volume to 320,000 tonnes, narrowing 1.8 per cent from that of the first half, and moving 13.88 million passengers, showing an 11.9 per cent growth.
