Sep 4, 2009 Shipping

Global Ship Lease Inc, a containership charter owner incorporated in the Marshall Islands, has taken delivery of the 6,627-TEU CMA CGM Berlioz.
According to the Shipping Gazette, Global Ship Lease owns 17 vessels and has orders for two newbuildings from German interests for US$77 million, each scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2010, after which, the company will own 19 ships, totalling 74,797 TEU.
The CMA CGM Berlioz is on a non-cancellable, 12-year time charter to CMA CGM, the world's third largest container shipping company, said a Global Ship Lease statement. "The purchase was funded by cash and drawings under the company's amended credit facility," said a company statement.
"This vessel, which is locked away on a 12-year time charter at a favourable rate, further expands our total contracted revenue stream to approximately $1.6 billion," said Global Ship Lease CEO Ian Webber.
