MAERSK Line has announced rate increases from the Mediterranean and North Africa to the US and Canada of US$300 per container from October 1.
As previously announced, Maersk has - from September 1 - increased rates between north Europe and the US and Canada by $400 per TEU and $500 per FEU as well as $500 more for 45 footers.
Maersk, along with other carriers, said transatlantic rates are unsustainable. "Trading conditions are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable," said a company statement.
