THE Canada Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement (CTSA) member lines have announced that they will raise bunker and currency surcharges in October.

Depending on the destination, bunker will go up from 59 to 64 per cent, a charge the 10-member line CTSA blamed on recent crude oil price increases.

The bunker surcharge will be US$490 per TEU, $613 per FEU, $690 per 40-foot high-cube and $776 per 45-footer for Canadian east coast ports. For west coast ports, the charge will be $246 per TEU, $308 per FEU, $346 per 40-foot high-cube and $390 per 45-footer.

There will also be a rising CTSA currency adjustment factor in October from one per cent to three per cent from all origins in Asia, including Japan and China. The currency surcharge was set at two per cent for August.

CTSA members are APL, Cosco, Evergreen, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai, "K" Line, NYK, OOCL, Yang Ming and Zim.
