UNITED Arab Shipping Company (UASC) announced it is increasing rates from the Far East to Arabian Gulf and Indian subcontinent ports, as well as introducing peak season and overweight surcharges from Asia to the Mediterranean.
UASC will increase rates on all westbound cargo from Asia to Red Sea ports by US$150 per TEU and $300 per FEU and on 40-foot high-cube from September 1-30.
Westbound cargo from Asia to all Arabian Gulf ports, Iran and Iraq, will pay a $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU (and 40-ft high cube) increase from September 15 to October 14,
UASC will also levy a $275 per TEU peak season surcharge from September 1 and exact a $100 per container surcharge for boxes of more than 15 tons from September 1.
On the Asia-Mediterranean trade, UASC said the charges resulted from a "continuous tight space situation".
