APL and Hapag-Lloyd amended their joint service

APL and Hapag-Lloyd have amended their joint Asia-Mexico service by switching from the present SAX loop to the PS2 loop, according to an AXS-Alphaliner weekly newsletter.

It said the move corresponds to a change in the Asian range coverage of the joint service. The PS2 service then turns in six weeks instead of five to maintain a weekly frequency while one week is shaved off from the SAX loop.

Both loops are operated by APL within the frame of the Far East-US services of New World Alliance, with Hapag-Lloyd taking slots on the Mexico sector.
 
The Asia-Mexico leg - now ensured as an extension of the PS2 - is named AME-2 by APL while Hapag-Lloyd calls it MAX 2, the report said.

The New World Alliance's PS2 service deploys six 4,400-5,800-TEU vessels.

The port rotation for the PS2 service is: Xiamen, Shenzhen (Chiwan), Hong Kong, Shenzhen (Yantian), Kaohsiung, Oakland, Los Angeles, Lazaro Cardenas, Manzanillo, Los Angeles, Kaohsiung and Xiamen.
