Hapag-Lloyd ups Asia-Europe and intra American rates

GERMANY's Hapag-Lloyd container line has announced a general rate increase of US$250 per TEU on the Asia-to-Europe cargo as well as a range of hikes applying to the intra-Americas trades.

The Asia-Europe charge applies to dry and reefer boxes from Asia, except Japan, Indian subcontinent and the Mideast, and includes all points in north and south Europe, including the east Med, west Med and Black Sea.

Specifically, $150 will be levied per TEU within the Gulf Coast, Caribbean and Central America via Gulf/Atlantic ports only, $150 per TEU within east coast South American ports, $150 per TEU within west coast South American ports, $300 per TEU between east and west coast North American ports and South American ports as well as $300 per TEU between east and west coast South American ports and Mexico, Central America and Caribbean ports.
