Höegh Autoliners takes charge of regional operations

Aug 6, 2009 Shipping

As part of the reorganisation of Höegh Autoliners earlier this year into a decentralised organisational structure, it was decided to locate the Regional Office for South Asia, Oceania, Middle East and Africa here, Exim News Service reported.
On August 1, the regional office here took over the operations of vessels in the region. With a region as vast as this one, the challenge was how best to operate the vessels and still ensure that response times to situations were not compromised by the time differences between the various local offices in the region.
According to a Höegh release, the regional office here will have operational control over the ‘deep sea’ vessels, while the local offices will operate the vessels on the ‘coastal leg’. The ‘deep sea’ leg being from when the vessel crosses into the region until it arrives at the Pilot Station for the first port. The ‘coastal leg’ would then be from arrival at Pilot Station at the first port until Dropping Outward Pilot (DOP) in the last port.
In early June, Mr Leif O. Höegh, Chairman of Höegh Autoliners, had formally inaugurated Höegh Autoliners India Pvt. Ltd as well as the company’s regional headquarters here. The two offices are housed in the same premises at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
While Höegh Autoliners India is headed by Mr Karolath Gopinath, Mr Per Folkesson is the Head of Region. They lead professional and dedicated teams.
Höegh Autoliners would bring to its Indian subsidiary its core values of customer-focused service and build long-term customer relationships, Mr Höegh had emphasised on the occasion.
