Cosco to impose bunker surcharge on Far East-Mideast trade

COSCO Container Lines have announced a bunker surcharge on cargo from the Far East to the Red Sea, Gulf and Indian subcontinent that will take effect September 1 until September 30.

The revised surcharge for trades from the Far East (excluding Japan) to the Persian Gulf and the Indian subcontinent will be US$231 per TEU and US$462 per FEU. From Japan to the Persian Gulf and the Indian subcontinent it will be US$204 per TEU and US$408 per FEU and from the Far East (except Japan) to the Red sea it will be US$309 per TEU and US$618 per FEU. From Japan to the Red Sea it will be U$356 per TEU and US$712 per FEU.

The Far East includes mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Brunei, Cambodia and Myanmar.

The Persian Gulf includes Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (Persian Gulf coast), Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Oman.

The Indian subcontinent includes India and Pakistan and the Red Sea include Saudi Arabia (Red Sea coast), Yemen, Jordan, Egypt and Sudan.
