Maersk hikes transatlantic rate US$400/TEU, $500/FEU September 1

DENMARK's Maersk Line has announced a transatlantic rate increase for both east and west bound cargo of US$400 per TEU, $500 per FEU and the same for 40-foot high-cube and 45-footers from September 1.

Today's rates are "unsustainable", said the Maersk announcement. "This rate increase is necessary to continue to operate services with the high level of reliability customers have come to expect," the company said.
