The options for the restructuring of Hapag-Lloyd are said to include the sale of properties, a reduction of up to 15% of the 7,000 employees, and cooperation with other shipping companies. Roland Berger consultants are looking at this option. Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) of Singapore and CMA CGM of France are seen as possible partners for the Hamburg-based container shipping company.
According to Logistics Finland, Hapag-Lloyd estimates that it will post a loss of no less than EUR 700mn (USD 994.29mn) in 2009 and about EUR 200mn in 2010. Observers consider these figures optimistic.
