Maersk Line's 7,000-TEU Soroe Maersk made the first call at Shenzhen's Da Chan Bay Terminal in its Far East-Mideast (FM1) loop, the third global service to make maiden calls at the Pearl River Delta terminal in recent months.
According to the Shipping Gazette, the FM1 service will call weekly at Da Chan Bay on Thursday deploying seven same-size ships. The port rotation follows: Tianjin Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen (Da Chan Bay Terminal One and Yantian), Tanjung Pelepas, Jebel Ali Dubai, Dammam, Singapore and back to Tianjin Xingang.
Shenzhen's location provides customers with a wide spectrum of privileges including the terminal's bonded logistics facilities and its trucking between our terminal and manufacturing bases, said Da Chan Bay Terminal One CEO Andrew Milliken.
"We are delighted to see that our customers continue expanding business in South China as our partnership flourishes and that they are getting ready to capture future growth in western Pearl River Delta," he said.
