Throughput of seaport Kavkaz up 19.6% to 1.96 mln t in Jan-Apr 09

In January-April 2009, seaport Kavkaz (Krasnodar territory, Azov Sea) handled 1.958 million tonnes of cargo (+19.6%, year-on-year), Taman branch of RosMorPort FSUE informs according to Interfax.

In the reported period, transshipment of oil products amounted to 1 mln 99,810 tonnes, general cargo - 300,100 tonnes. Turnover of the port’s railway ferry terminal totaled 534,070 tonnes (-22.7%).

Port Kavkaz is situated at the border of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov at KerchStrait from the side of Russia. The port built in 1953 is ice-free, so it is able to handle both river vessels (draft of up to 5 meters) and sea vessels (off-harbor handling of vessels with a draft of up to 11 meters).
