Xiamen's Zhaoyin port area Taiwan trade increases fourfold

XIAMEN Port's Zhaoyin port area handled 366,600 tonnes of cross-strait cargo during the first quarter, which is more than fourfold the volume handled in the same period in the prior year, Xinhua reported.

The port area handled 3.4 million tonnes during this period, an increase of 18.6 per cent comparing to the first quarter in 2008. Foreign trade cargo rose 30.5 per cent to 973,900 tonnes.
