SHANTOU International Container Terminals (SICT), part of the Hong Kong's Hutchison Port Holdings Group, has received the maiden call of the 725-TEU Sheng He, the first ship to be deployed on Cosco's new South East Asia Service (HSH).
This weekly service deploys two same-sized containerships that follow a rotation of Shantou, Hong Kong, Zhanjiang, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, the 546-TEU Fu Chun, the second containership in the expanded direct cross-strait service (STD) provided by China United Lines, called at SICT.
The vessel calls at SICT every Monday on a rotation of Shantou, Kaohsiung, Yantian, Huangpu and Shekou.
The shipping line has also restructured the route of the Far East Cheer, the first STD vessel. The ship now calls at Shantou every Tuesday and Friday on a port rotation of Shantou, Kaohsiung, Taichung, Shantou and Shekou.
SICT has taken on four new services this year. The terminal handles five intra-Asia services and one direct cross-strait service, totalling nine calls per week.
This indicates the confidence shipping lines have in the quality of our services and in our dedication to expanding our operations to meet the needs of our customers, said SICT general manager Ronald Wan.
