Shenzhen Port's container throughput declined 20.9 per cent year on year in the first quarter to 3.9 million TEU.
The port's overall cargo tonnage fell 19.8 per cent to 40.6 million tonnes, Logistics Week reported. Foreign trade cargo fell 23.4 per cent to 29.6 million tonnes.
In March, Shenzhen's container handling volume dropped 20.3 per cent to 1.3 million TEU, falling for the seventh consecutive month. The port's February throughput was 955,500 TEU, hitting its lowest ebb in its five years of operation.
