Western Shenzhen port hosted the Sea-Rail Intermodal Spring Colloquia successfully

On February 13, 2009, the “Western Shenzhen Port Sea-Rail Intermodal Spring Colloquia”, hosted by China Merchants Holdings (International) Co., Ltd.,(CMHI), Chiwan Container Terminal (CCT), Shekou Container Terminal (SCT), China Merchants Maritime Logistics Co., Ltds (CMML) and Shenzhen Pingnan Railway, which was held at Nanhai Hotel successfully to promote the marketing and service quality for Sea-Rail Intermodal.
The guests from Shenzhen Municipal Communication Bureau, China Railway Construction Group, Guangzhou Branch (CRCG), Guangzhou Railway Group and other related enterprises joyfully attended the Spring Colloquia. Meanwhile, the delegators from carriers, shippers, consignees and other clients also attended this event.
The project team of Sea-Rail Intermodal summarized the work in Y2008 and introduced the plans in Y2009. Mr. Feng Yi Xu, the GM in China Railway Construction Group (Guangzhou Branch) updated the current construction state of railways in China, especially the development and policies of container railage in Pan PRD area, which includes:
(1) The central station-Shenzhen station will be built at Ping Hu Nan. The building-up work will be earlier than Guangzhou station. The next step will be to connect the Shenzhen station with the port smoothly.
(2) By 2012, the rail mileage in Huan Nan, Guang Dong and Hai Nan provinces will increase from 4,919 kilometers to 9,566 kilometers.
(3) The construction of the line for passenger transportation between Wu Han and Guang Zhou will be finished at the end of this year and be operational in the first half of 2010. The transit time for freight train will be cut down to 15 hours (currently 36 hours) between Wu Han and Guang Zhou provinces.
