Port of Qingdao's Qianwan Container Terminal phase 4 has finished building No1 to No4 berths, 14 months ahead of schedule.
With the new berths, Qianwan Phase 4 terminal's land area has been expanded to 1.8 million square metres, with container yard area of 520,000 square metres and a longer quay length of 1,320 metres.
Qianwan Phase 4 Terminal, which is combined operation by Qingdao Port Group, DP World, Maersk, Cosco and Pan-Asia Shipping, is planned to have 10 berths with 18 to 20 metres alongside and an aggregate quay length of 3,408 metres. The terminal will be able to handle six million TEU annually when completed by the end of 2009.
By December 28, the Port of Qingdao's annual container throughput had cumulated to 10 million TEU with an overall cargo tonnage of 300 million tonnes.
