Shanghai's boxes up 8.1pc up in first 11 months, up 1.8pc in Nov

SHANGHAI International Port Group (SIPG) handled 2.29 million TEU in November, increasing 1.8 per cent, Logistics Week reported.


SIPG's overall tonnage in the same month fell 12.3 per cent to 26 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo dropped 1.6 per cent to 19.6 million tonnes.


From January to November, the group's cumulative container throughput rose 8.1 per cent to 25.78 million TEU, over all tonnage went seven per cent up to 344 million tonnes. Yangshan Port Area's cumulative box volume surged 36.6 per cent to 7.56 million TEU and 50.1 per cent of the boxes handled by Yangshan were transshipped by barges.
