BPA signs deal to develop container depot in China

Nov 25, 2008 Port

The Busan Port Authority said Monday it will help to develop an inland container depot in Suifenhe, China to support its efforts in developing the eastern Russian port of Nakhodka.

On Monday, BPA signed a memorandum of understanding with the municipal government in Suifenhe, the Russian-based JSC Far Eastern Transport Group, and Hyundai Logistics to develop and operate the ICD.

BPA is hoping the Chinese city will help feed cargo to the Nakhodka, specifically timber products exported by rail from Russia, which is typically loaded through ports in Dalian, China.
