International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) recently announced the appointment of Ton Bestenbreur as Chief Executive Officer of Batumi International Container Terminal LLC (BICTL), an ICTSI subsidiary operating the Batumi International Container Terminal in Georgia.
Bestenbreur brings to ICTSI 30 years of experience in ports and container management. Before ICTSI, he was the General Manager for South African Port Operations and Fresh Produce Terminals from 2001 to 2006.
Bestenbreur started his career as project leader in Reactor Centrum Nederland in Amsterdam. He then transferred to Ultra Centrifuge Nederland as Managing Director. In 1981, he became Vice President for Operations in Europe Container Terminus. He was the team leader for Amsterdam Port Consultants APC, Interim Technical Director for Rotogravure Etten, and was also consultant for HIT- Maersk Line- Pakhoed from 1987-1993. He became General Manager for Portnet and Managing Director for ECT Trieste- SPA from 1998 to 2001.
A Dutchman, Bestenbreur graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Haarlem and Technological University of Eindhoven- The Netherlands. He is fluent in four different languages.
