River port is to be put into operation by the completion of the Marine Facade project in 2012.  According to PortNews IAA reporter, St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko announced this at the press conference dedicate to commissioning of the first phase of Russia’s first marine passenger terminal. The river port will enable tourists arriving by cruise liners to get to the city center for 15-20 minutes. According to Matvienko, the complex of the marine and river ports will be the largest tourism infrastructure hub in Europe.

As it was earlier reported, Management Company Marine Facade LLC plans to build river passenger port on reclaimed territory close to the new marine passenger terminal. The river port will ensure fast delivery of tourists arriving to maritime passenger terminal to the city center. The terminal is supposed to be capable of handling 50% of cruise liners’ passengers.
