First feeder services on a regular basis

Aug 25, 2008 Port

After the first call of CMA CGM’s feeder vessel “Tobruk” about one month ago, EUROGATE Tanger has

started to handle feeder services on a regular basis. “Although the terminal is still in a testing phase and not yet officially opened, we are very proud that our operations are working so well that we are already able to handle regular feeder services. Construction work at our terminal proceeds well.

We are now preparing to handle the first ocean carrier in September”, says Domenico Bagalà, President of the Management Board of EUROGATE Tanger.

The two feeder services that call at the EUROGATE Tanger terminal once a week are operated by OPDR and CMA CGM. The port rotation of OPDR’s service has the following route: Hamburg – Rotterdam – Antwerp – Felixstowe – Seville – Gibraltar – Ceuta – Melilla – Tangier. CMA CGM’s North Africa Feedering service links Malta with Tangier and deploys vessels with a loading capacity of 1,000 TEU.

EUROGATE Tanger currently has 300 m of quayside and five container cranes.

By the end of the year, the quay length will be extended to 800 m. An additional three container cranes are on order for delivery in February 2009.
