From January to July, unitized cargo traffic reached 6.7 million tonnes. Compared to last year’s record volume, the reduction was 4%. The decrease occurred in the Rostock and Gdynia services, while services such as those to Tallinn and Travemünde continued to grow. Trailer truck and trailer numbers decreased by 7%. Container traffic showed slight growth when measured in tonnes, but the total number of containers decreased by 5%.
Passenger traffic has exhibited a positive trend: from January to July, the number of passengers increased to 5.3 million, an increase of 6% over the previous year. The growth was especially strong for the new Tallinn vessels. The growth in services provided by Tallink and Viking Line was 25%. In all, travel to Tallinn increased by 11%. Travel to Stockholm, which had remained steady for several years, decreased by 5%. Some 500,000 motorcars were transported with the passen-gers, an increase of 13%.
