Port of Sochi to Be Reconstructed Within 5 Years

The port of Sochi will be modernized during the next 5 years and it will help to increase passenger turnover by 4 times, reports dp.ru quoting Vladimir Derkunov, the captain of the Sochi port.

The project of the port’s reconstruction includes the building of commercial port in Imeritinsky Valley.

There will be built 2 new berths and a breakwater in the port of Sochi. It is expected that the area of port will be enlarged up to 65 hectares (now it totals 20.5 hectares).

The cost of the project – 6.83 bn rubles. In 2008-2009 there will be realized design and survey works, in 2009-2013 the port will be reconctructed.

During the first 10 months of the current year cargo turnover of the port totaled 414 thousand tons and served 177 thousand passengers.
