APM Terminal in New York receiving new cranes

Aug 18, 2008 Port

APM Terminals said its terminal in the Port of New York is scheduled to receive four large new ship-to-shore cranes on Aug. 17.

The all-electric super-post-Panamax cranes, built by the Chinese company ZPMC, will be able to load and discharge vessels with up to 22 rows of containers, and will be the most technologically advanced at APM's terminal.

APM said the cranes, which will be delivered to its terminal in Port Elizabeth, N.J., must be delivered during daylight hours and at dead low tide due to low overhead clearance at the Bayonne Bridge.
