Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, along with the state's Transportation Secretary John D. Porcari and Maryland Port Administration Executive Director James J. White will sign a new 10-year agreement with officials from Evergreen Marine Corp. for continued use of the Port of Baltimore.

At a ceremony at Baltimore's Seagirt Marine Terminal Wednesday, Evergreen is scheduled to sign a deal that will guarantee the transport of 40,000 loaded shipping containers to and from Baltimore annually. Evergreen is the port's only shipping line that provides direct service to Asia and the port's second longest serving container customer. In the last seven years, Evergreen's business through the Port of Baltimore has increased 126 percent.
