Da Chan receives first Hong Kong feeder call

The newest terminal in the stable of Shenzhen container facilities said it received its first feeder service from Hong Kong over the weekend.

Da Chan Bay Terminal One, the westernmost and northernmost container complex in the Port of Shenzhen, received the vessel Yue Hui Hai 118, run by Ever Harvest Shipping Ltd. & Xiamen Harvest Shipping Ltd., one of the major HongKong-Mainland feeder service providers.

On July 1, Da Chan got clearance from Shenzhen Customs to allow direct feeder calls from Hong Kong. The terminal, jointly owned by Hong Kong-based Modern Terminals and the local government, has two berths, with three more to open by the end of 2008.
