Port of Dunkirk's box volume boosted by ad-hoc Maersk calls

Jul 9, 2008 Port

Container throughput at the French Atlantic Coast Port of Dunkirk increased 10 percent year on year in the first half of 2008 to 114,000 TEUs.

The Port of Dunkirk Authority said numerous exceptional calls by Maersk Line, representing more than 22,000 TEUs since the beginning of the year, more than compensated for the termination of regular calls by the Danish carrier.

The French port's provisional cumulated traffic figure for the first six months of the year is 28.9 million tons, up 2 percent compared to the same period last year.
