Hong Kong's ports saw a 1.6 percent rise in container throughput in May year-on-year to 2.1 million TEUs.
The bulk of the cargo was handled by terminals at Kwai Chung with throughput of 1.53 million, up 1.4 percent from a year earlier. Other terminals recorded throughput of 570,000 TEUs, up 1.9 percent from a year ago.
In the first five months of the year, total throughput at Hong Kong terminals was 9.9 million TEUs, up 4.5 percent year-on-year, with Kwai Chung handling 7.21 million TEUs, up 5.7 percent year-on-year.
